Marc Anthony, the singer, musician, producer, and actor has received in 2010 an unwelcome Christmas gift from the New York government: a demand for $1.8 million in back taxes according to radaronline.com. On March 29th, NY State filed a tax lien against his Nassau County home on Long Island, was served with a $1.6 million Federal lien on the same property in January.
It has to be mentioned that this was not the first time Marc Anthony has faced tax problems, who's debt reaches more than $3.4 million. In 2007, Anthony owed $2.5 million to the federal government for evading paying taxes for some 4 years. According to reports, Anthony reported this "lack of insight" to poor business management and finally paid the fine after pleading guilty to the fine in court.
A representative for Marc Anthony has confirmed in 2011 that he has worked out a deal with U.S. authorities to pay off his multi-million dollar tax debts. Jennifer Lopez's ex husband owes $3.4 million to the Internal Revenue Service, according to tax liens obtained by Eonline.com.
A spokesperson revealed that Anthony has enlisted the help of his management and financial team to reach "an agreement in principle resolving all of (his) federal tax liabilities... No further comments will be issued about this matter."
